The Vortex Rings

An award for Shopify stores whose vortex earns real, extra revenue. Not total sales: only the money a vortex earned above the old page, proven by an A/B test and checked against the raw data. Every Ring adds a ring to the trophy.

Tier 0Beat the GridWin the A/B test

Your vortex earns more revenue per visitor than your old page, over the test length agreed before it started.

Tier 1First Ring$10,000

Verified incremental revenue: the extra the vortex earned over your old page.

Tier 2Inner Ring$100,000

Verified incremental revenue. Rare: a strong vortex on a busy store, over time.

Tier 3The Eye$1,000,000

Verified incremental revenue. The eye of the vortex. It should take years, and it should be rare.

No Rings have been awarded yet. Tap Vortex launched in October 2026 and the first tests are still to finish. The first awards go out when real numbers reach them, and not before. Amounts are in Australian dollars, excluding GST, net of refunds.

Why we count extra revenue, not total sales

Most revenue awards count everything that went through a page. That tells you how big a store is, not whether the page helped. A big store would hit any sales milestone with or without a change.

A Vortex Ring counts only what the vortex added. During the A/B test, half your visitors see your old page and half see the vortex, with the same offer and the same ads. The difference in revenue per visitor, multiplied by the visitors who saw the vortex, is the incremental revenue. It's a smaller number than total sales, and it means far more.

How the number is measured

  1. Before the test: we write down the metric (revenue per visitor), the traffic split and the test length. You sign off. Nobody moves the goalposts later.
  2. During the test: incremental revenue = (vortex revenue per visitor − old page revenue per visitor) × visitors who saw the vortex.
  3. After the test: to keep counting toward a Ring, a small holdout (for example 10% of visitors) keeps seeing the old page, so there's always a fair comparison. No holdout, no counting. We never project or extrapolate.
  4. What comes off: refunds, cancelled orders and GST.
  5. What counts: only orders that came through the vortex, tagged in Shopify.

How every award is verified

  1. Shopify order export for the period, read-only.
  2. The A/B test data showing visitors and revenue on each side.
  3. The test settings written down before the test started.
  4. A full re-calculation from those raw exports, not from a dashboard.
  5. The store owner signs off that the numbers are theirs and can be published.
  6. A public verification page for each award, with the store, the tier, the dates, the method and the number. The trophy carries a QR code that links to it.

The trophy

Stacked rings on a solid base, echoing the Tap Vortex logo. Beat the Grid is a single disc. Each Ring adds a raised ring on top, so a store's trophy grows with its results. The Eye adds a polished centre. Every trophy is engraved with the store name, the tier, the verified number and the test dates, and comes with a badge for the store's website that links to its verification page.

FAQ

Has anyone won a Vortex Ring yet?

Not yet. Tap Vortex launched in October 2026, and the first A/B tests haven't finished. We'll only ever award a Ring when a real client's verified numbers reach it, and every award gets its own public verification page.

What counts as incremental revenue?

The extra revenue the vortex earned compared with your old page, on the same traffic, measured by an A/B test. We take the difference in revenue per visitor between the two pages and multiply it by the visitors who saw the vortex. Refunds, cancellations and GST come off.

Why not just count total sales, like other awards?

Total sales say how big a store is, not whether a page helped. A store doing $1M a month would reach any sales milestone with or without a vortex. Counting only the extra revenue proven by a test means a Ring means what it says.

How do you keep counting after the test ends?

With a small holdout: a share of visitors (for example 10%) keeps seeing the old page, so there's always a fair comparison. No holdout, no counting. We never project or extrapolate.

Who checks the numbers?

We re-calculate every award from raw exports (Shopify orders and the A/B test data), and the store owner signs off that the numbers are theirs and can be published. The method and test settings are written down before the test starts, so nobody can move the goalposts.

Do I have to share my numbers publicly?

Only if you want a Ring. Your results stay private by default. An award is published only with your written OK.
