Everything you need to set up and run Tap Vortex on your Shopify store, from your first vortex to split tests and Klaviyo follow-ups.
Get started
Install Tap Vortex from the Shopify App Store. It asks for read-only access to your products, orders, themes and files. It never edits your theme code.
- Pick a plan on the Plan page. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, billed through Shopify.
- Go to Home. The Get your vortex live checklist shows what's set up and what's left.
- Click Build a vortex and answer the 5 setup steps.
Build your first vortex
A vortex is a set of pages that walks each shopper to the right product and a bigger bag, then hands them to your normal Shopify checkout. It remembers every answer, so the next page and the next visit pick up where they left off.
- What do you sell? The setup uses this to word your starter pages.
- Where will it live? Its own link, your homepage, one page, or every page.
- What should it do? Pick the goals: match shoppers, grow the bag, collect emails.
- Your pages. Keep, add or remove pages (offer, questions, match, bundle, bag, welcome back).
- Your look. Colours, logo and font are filled in from your theme. Change anything.
Click Build my pages. Your starter pages open in the builder with your real products. Questions are optional: plenty of vortexes ask none.
Edit pages in the builder
- Click anything on the page to edit it. Type straight on the page, drag blocks to move them, and use Insert to add more.
- Use the Style panel for colours, fonts, spacing, corners and shadows, and the Desktop, Tablet and Phone views to check every size.
- On a question, use Match with AI to suggest which products fit each answer, or set the rules yourself (products, tags, type or price).
- Press Preview to try it as a shopper. Nothing goes live until you press Publish.
Put it on your store
Every vortex has its own link: your-store.myshopify.com/apps/vortex/<name>. Share it, or use it in ads and emails.
To show it on your homepage, one page or every page, switch on the app embed once:
- Go to Home and click Add to theme. Your theme editor opens at App embeds.
- Switch on Tap Vortex takeover and click Save.
The embed does nothing on pages without a vortex or a test. Cart, checkout, customer accounts, policy pages, gift cards and the password page are never taken over.
See your normal store
Add ?vx=off to the end of any store link to see your store without a vortex. To stop a vortex completely, unpublish it in the builder or switch off the app embed in your theme.
Split test it
On the Tests page, start a test of your vortex against your current page. Visitors are split 50/50 and each one keeps seeing the same side. Revenue per visitor decides the winner. When you're happy, click Keep it on to make the vortex permanent, or Stop test to go back.
Read your reports
Reports shows visitors, where shoppers drop off, which answers lead to checkout, add-ons taken, and orders. Orders are credited to the vortex when they come through your normal Shopify checkout.
Follow-ups in Klaviyo
Under Memory & follow-ups, connect your Klaviyo account with a private API key. Tap Vortex sends each shopper's answers, match and bag to Klaviyo and can create ready-made follow-up flows there as drafts. Nothing sends until you switch a flow on in Klaviyo, and you edit the emails in Klaviyo's own editor.
Shopper privacy and consent
The vortex follows your store's cookie banner (Shopify's Customer Privacy API). Without analytics consent it keeps no visitor id and sends nothing to our servers, apart from an email the shopper types in and ticks the box for. Email sign-up boxes start unticked, and only a ticked box subscribes the shopper. Full details are in the app privacy policy.
Plans and billing
Three plans, all with a 14-day free trial and billed by Shopify: Starter (up to 10,000 vortex visitors a month), Growth (up to 50,000) and Scale (up to 200,000). Change plans any time on the Plan page. We never block a vortex for going over. If you're over two months in a row, we'll email you about moving up.
Uninstalling
Remove the app from Settings > Apps in Shopify. Vortex pages stop straight away and no theme code is left behind. Your store's data is deleted when Shopify tells us the uninstall is final.
